Site Kalos

Located 27 km. N-SOUTHWEST of Heraklion, in low-Hill slope, and 700 m. from the Glebe Galeni. In front of the opened a narrow ravine that is traversed by a small torrent.

Located almost in the center of the mountainous region of isolated settlements and Kalos, Galeni and Roukani, in place "Trapeza" at an altitude of about 420. G. Rethemniotakis excavated in 1970 and 1976 a clump of 8 chamber graves of LM of the usual type of chamber of carved elliptical chamber and downward way. Inside found LM ΙΙΙΑ2-B 'larnakes', pottery and other findings. The Minoan settlement. to which belonged the cemetery should be sought in the surrounding area. Scattered LM shells that were observed in small superficial research on the low hillside East of the settlement Kalos, near a small spring and approximately 500 m. South of the cemetery may be clue to locating of this settlement.

It has also identified installation of middle Minoan (MMIIIB-YMI) slots to position 'Halikias', to NE side of the Hill "Kefali tsi Trochalas". Relics of the mid-Minoan (MMI-II) period were collected from the top of the Hill "Kaimenos", approximately 500 metres east of the site of "Stou Vathia", while the West and near the village of Pyrgos, identified by A. Enans ancient buildings and YMI tomb was unearthed here.
