Routes
The routes, in a diverse natural environment, ensure for each visitor a unique contact with nature, through the diversity of the flora and fauna of the region. The wild birds and wildlife in general, boasts with one of a kind birds and vultures, impressive insect species and rare species of wildlife, spurring the interest of the visitor.
The various points of natural beauty (such as springs, gorges, karstic formations, the high and steep sections of rocks, the lush green forest sites, the presence of wild plants and herbs, the fragrances of nature, the beautiful colors of wild flora), are fixed characteristics of a pure environment, linked in sight with the fields of tended plantations and crops.
The scenic routes and waypoints of leisure, are crossing vistas of natural beauty, archaeological sites, historical monuments, monasteries and old churches, historical sites - sites, caves, canyons, old mills, bridges, spectacular cliffs, fountains, wells, etc. .
Some exemplary references are the routes in Kato Asites (Prinos, the Monastery of Gorgolaini, etc.), in Pyrgou (the old monastery of Chrysopigi) in Pano Asites (the Refuge of the Mountaineering Club, Ag. Antonios Gorge, etc.), in Avgeniki (a path of outstanding natural beauty), in Venerato (the canyon of Ag. Fanourios, the Paliani Monastery, etc.), in Profitis Ilias (the castle of Temenos), in Knossos (the canyon known as “Knosano”, Ag. Irini) in Skalani (the gorge of Karteros) and so many more.
All planned routes either by bicycle, motorcycle, car, group or solitary, sports or just on foot, provide a unique experience for all nature lovers.
Agios Miron settlement area.
The proposed route follows the road Heraklion-Mesara, starting with the node of Giofyro. The node turn left and follow the signs toward Degrees. The aim of the visit is path in selected settlements of a particular geographical area with interesting residential network and common cultural and historical traits.
Profitis Ilias Site
The route is a short cultural and historic tour through the natural wealth of the region of Prophitis Ilias and settlements that surround it. The whole route is about 20 km. and performed by car or bike.
The international path E4, is under the supervision of the European Union of mountain Trekking (E.W.V.) and designed and marked by the Greek Federation of mountaineering-climbing.
Knossano Gorge grows to a length of up to 6 km. and is essentially the natural continuation of the sacred mount Giouktas. It is one of the three gorges of the Eco-Archaeological Park of Giouchtas. Stretching south of Archanes (Agios Mamas), runs through the village of Archanes in place Kato Mylos, where begins the piece is known as the Sylamiano Gorge. This piece is gorgeous with smooth koyfwtoys rocks and huge trees, and is very easily accessible by car, as the road passes through it.
