Vasilies

The Vasilies were village of "Parakandias", built on the northern outskirts of sacred terms "Giouchtas" today with the draft Kallikratis is integrated in the regional section of the municipality of Heraklion. Located at an altitude of 300 meters away from Heraklion and about 10 kilometers.

In contract of 1271 meets for the first time the name of the village with the Vaxilee script, while fifty years later (1320) we named Bassilie in Catasticum Ecclesiarum et Monasteriorum Comunis, stating that it has five damaged churches rebuilt.

Impressive visited point in the region of the settlement on the Northern foot of the sacred mountain is cavernous in form catacomb St. Anthony's Church that celebrates every year on 17 January.

In addition to the traditional products, the visitor will be impressed by the local artisans (spinning wheel) and traditional natural, handmade olive oil soaps (Helleo), which can be obtained from the creators – producers.

Patron Saint of the village is Saint Anthony (celebrated on 17 January) and every year on the eve and day of celebration is organized by the cultural association day feast. The Club also organizes every year on June 24, the traditional celebration of Klidona.
